Safer Roads and Mobility

This module will entail influencing road design and network management.

This module subsumes road development, safety of all road users, pedestrians and other vulnerable users, infrastructure developments and safety audits. This module seeks to use road infrastructure assessment rating and improved design to raise the inherent safety of road networks for the benefit of all road users, especially the most vulnerable.

Safe Driver Pledges

I belt up always and ensure all my passengers use safety belts before departing

 

I obey speed limits and other road signs

I always warn others in good time of my intention to turn, change lanes or overtake

 

 

I look out for motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians

 

I warn others when I stop at hazardous points or spot a hazard ahead

I slow down at junctions even when I have right of way

 

 

I take regular breaks on long journeys.

I do not use my mobile phone while driving or while fueling in a petrol station

 

 

I do not drink and drive or drive under the influence of drugs

I do not overload or carry excess passengers

I do not overtake until it is safe to do so

I ensure my vehicle is well maintained and I do a walk around inspection of the vehicle before driving off.

 

As a motor cyclist, I use a helmet and ensure my passenger wears a helmet before departing
